Program notes

The captivating Jonas Kaufmann marks a special occasion: the 100th operatic season of the Arena di Verona. In the heart of this legendary venue and joined by Sonya Yoncheva and Ludovic Tézier, the “king of tenors” takes on a melodic voyage and showcases his versatile repertoire. Kaufmann performs pieces by opera’s most famous composers like Puccini, Verdi, and Bizet before exploring more contemporary works by Bernstein and Zimmer. French newspaper Le Monde calls Kaufmann the “wonder tenor,” and this moving concert shows why he is one of the most iconic opera singers of his generation.
