Program notes
At the 2025 Ljubljana Festival in the Slovenian capital, Grammy-winning conductor and orchestra duo Josep Vicent and the ADDA Symphony Orchestra ignite the stage with a whirlwind program of Spanish-themed music by Rimsky-Korsakov, de Falla, and Leonard Bernstein! Adding to the spectacle, the renowned flamenco artistry of singer Ginesa Ortega and dancer David Romero intertwines with live illustrations by Spanish visual designer Sagar Forniés, creating an unforgettable multi-sensory experience. First, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol presents five rousing movements inspired by Spanish folk melodies, followed by Manuel de Falla’s ballet-pantomime El amor brujo (Love, the Magician), a romantic, supernatural ballet steeped in flamenco tradition. The program culminates with Leonard Bernstein's electrifying music from West Side Story, full of memorable themes and operatic grandeur.
