Program notes

Join Giorgi Gigashvili in an enchanting piano recital at the 2026 Tsinandali Festival, featuring richly evocative works spanning centuries of the piano repertoire. The gifted pianist opens with three of Domenico Scarlatti’s hypnotically beautiful sonatas before taking on Chopin’s famous Ballade No. 4, described by pianist and composer John Ogdon as “the most exalted, intense, and sublimely powerful of all Chopin's compositions.” We then jump to the 21st century for contemporary Georgian composer Natalie Beridze’s “Holy Atoms” before turning back the clock once again for two exquisitely lyrical pieces by Lili Boulanger and Ravel’s famously dreamlike Miroirs.
