Mozart's Violin Concertos
A violin prodigy himself, Mozart would compose at least five violin concertos and a spectacular Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola, a magnificent alchemical blend between concerto and symphony. Discover his little-performed Concerto No. 2 in the hands of a legendary young virtuoso, the famous and sublime Third, with the legendary Yehudi Menuhin (and in a more recent rendition by Josef Špaček at the Verbier Festival), or No. 4, with one of the finest violinists in history, Zino Francescatti. Last but not least, feast your eyes and ears on Isaac Stern in a vintage concert with the Third as well as the evocative Fifth (“Turkish”), which we also have in the magical hands of Nathan Milstein. In rehearsal, Pinchas Zukerman tackles the Fourth; and in a fascinating master class, Maxim Vengerov reveals the secrets of the Third.
