Four pianists on four pianos! At Munich's Kongressaal in 1983, Rodion Shchedrin performed his Hommage à Chopin for four pianos, side by side with the great Nicolas Economou, Paul Gulda, and Chick Corea.
The origins of Shchedrin's composition lie in Chopin's Prelude in C minor No. 28, op. 20. Shchedrin's homage connects Chopin's Romantic music for piano with the dizzying spontaneity of contemporary music.
