The 2025 Jazz Plaza Festival brings together the vibrant sounds of Latin jazz, showcasing global talent and rich musical tradition. The festival runs from January 26th to February 2nd, offering live shows, masterclasses, and jam sessions to bring together and celebrate both established and emerging artists on the Cuban stage.
The Amira Figarova Sextet always promises a captivating showcase of forward-thinking jazz and musical sophistication. Known for her unique fusion of traditional jazz with elements of world music, Ajerbaijan-born jazz pianist, composer and bandleader Figarova leads her ensemble through a series of eclectic compositions that is sure to be a highlight at the festival! With Bart Platteau, Alex Pope Norris, Wayne Escoffery, Yasushi Nakamura, and Rudy Royston, the sextet's chemistry evokes dynamic rhythms and intricate improvisation ready to surpass all expectations in Havana. Figarova just released her 18th studio album last year, entitled Suite for Africa.
