Sobre el programa...
From the revolutionary “Tristan chord” in its opening to the impassioned, heart-wrenching Liebestod (“love-death”) at its conclusion, Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde is an epic tapestry of intense, passionate, yet ultimately doomed love. Jean-Claude Berutti's staging of this great operatic classic features Lianna Haroutounian—hailed by Opera Today as “one of the major voices of our time”—and a "fearless" Michael Weinius (Opera Traveller) in the title roles, alongside the esteemed orchestra of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti.
Headed for Cornwall to marry King Marc, Princess Isolde of Ireland (Lianna Haroutounian) is aboard the ship of Tristan (Michael Weinius), the king’s nephew on whom she plans to exact deadly revenge for killing her fiancé. The tides turn when a love potion mixed by Isolde’s maid Brangäne (Violeta Urmana, grande dame of Wagnerian opera) binds them in a transcendent love affair that results in their tragic fate…
