Get ready to groove to the captivating rhythms of Cuban jazz with one of the genre's most essential figures, pianist Harold López-Nussa. Though trained in the classical tradition, he often breaks free from its confines to explore the realms of improvisation and novel sounds. His virtuosity and boundless energy earned him first prize in the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival piano competition in 2005, and he has gone on to release numerous albums at the crossroads of a vibrant Cuban folk tradition and classical heritage. Alongside harmonica virtuoso Grégoire Maret, López-Nussa evokes his recent departure from his native Cuba for France in Timba a la americana at Jazz à Vienne, an album produced by Snarky Puppy leader Michael League. Balancing nostalgia with boundless optimism, López-Nussa lights up the stage with his singular style and magnetic energy.
