In its definitive version, completed between July and August 1782, the Symphony No. 35 in D major, K. 385 "Haffner" consists of four movements: 1. Allegro con spirito, 2. Andante, 3. Menuet, 4. Presto, with a duration of approximately 22 minutes. The overall tone of the piece is lively and joyful, which has led some critics to compare it to Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A major, "Italian," although, like the latter, it contains nuances of melancholy.
