Program notes

This year, the Moscow Soloists celebrate 25 years of success! Led by internationally acclaimed violist Yuri Bashmet, a regular at the Verbier Festival, they perform some of classical music's greatest hits.

Under the direction of Yuri Bashmet, the musicians open the concert with Mozart's beautiful Eine kleine Nachtmusik, a lively and joyous work composed just weeks after the death of the composer's father. The evening culminates in Schubert's String Quartet "Death and the Maiden" in Mahler's arrangement for string orchestra. The program also includes several works with soloists, where we will be treated to some of Bashmet's fiery solo viola-playing!
