Don't miss the two challenges from the finale of the 15th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, live from Fort Worth, Texas! For the second one, each of the six young pianists perform a concerto.
At a gala dinner in 1958, a group of Cliburn's friends and admirers announced their plans to create a piano competition in his honor—much to the pianist's surprise. Four years later, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition was born with the revolutionary goal of helping young pianists' careers by supporting them over the course of the three years following their prize-winning performances. The competition quickly endeared itself not just to the international classical music community, but also to the citizens of Fort Worth, who enthusiastically follow the event. Taking place every four years, over its fifty-year history the competition has welcomed hundreds of talented pianists and music professionals.
