Program notes
Discover the world of choreographer Mourad Merzouki with Kaléidoscope, a retrospective work celebrating 25 years of artistic achievement! To mark the 10th anniversary of the Kalypso festival and the end of his tenure at the National Choreographic Center of Créteil and Val-de-Marne in 2022, Mourad Merzouki revisits his most beautiful choreographies created from 1996 to 2021. Blending hip-hop with contemporary dance, the work consists of a dozen elegantly sequenced scenes, all taken from iconic pieces such as Terrain Vague, Tricôté, Agwa, Boxe Boxe, Yo Gee Ti, Cartes Blanches, Folia, Vertikal, and Zéphyr. Conceived as a journey retracing the choreographer's creative evolution, Kaléidoscope highlights all the poetry, strength, and sensitivity of Mourad Merzouki.
