Program notes

On September 15, 2011, the smooth and rich tenor voice of Andrea Bocelli rang out over the Great Lawn of Central Park in New York City, joined by popular stars like Céline Dion and Tony Bennett, opera luminaries like Pretty Yende and Bryn Terfel, and Alan Gilbert with the New York Philharmonic. All 60,000 tickets to the (free) concert had been claimed in a matter of hours, but the exceptional evening, filmed in stunning HD, is now available on medici.tv!

Bocelli's soaring, expressive vocals are beautifully suited to the varied repertoire he performs, from arias by Verdi, Bizet, and Puccini that see him join forces with Pretty Yende, Bryn Terfel, and Ana Maria Martínez, to contemporary songs like "New York, New York" (performed with the legendary Bennett), "The Prayer" (his celebrated duet with Dion), and his signature tune "Con te partirò." From first note to last (a triumphant "Nessun dorma!"), this star-studded vocal extravaganza will have you applauding along with the tens of thousands of delighted spectators.

This is just one of over a thousand thrilling concerts available on medici.tv, the web's leading classical music streaming platform!
