Program notes
Three years ago, the Carl Nielsen International Competition combined its violin, flute, and clarinet disciplines into one concurrent competition, and in 2022, the triple tradition continues! Join us in Odense, Denmark, for final-round action from this year's edition of one of the world's most prestigious competitions—one which has helped launched the careers of violinists like Pekka Kuusisto, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, and Liya Petrova, among others. In this pre-final round, the competition's top three violinists will choose from among some of the greatest concertos of the violin repertoire!
This year’s violin jury is chaired by Noah Bendix-Balgley, and the candidates have the incredible opportunity to perform alongside the Copenhagen Philharmonic under Szeps-Znaider himself, the president of this year’s competition.
The violin prizes at the 2022 Carl Nielsen International Competition have been awarded to…
1st Prize (tie): Hans Christian Aavik and Bohdan Luts
2nd Prize: not awarded
