In 1994, Christa Ludwig gives a performance of Schubert's Winterreise (The Winter Journey), accompanied by the pianist Charles Spencer.

Aged 66, Christa Ludwig becomes the second female singer, after Lotte Lehmann, to give a concert performance of The Winter Journey, and this is its first commercial release.
