Gianandrea Noseda conducts Shchedrin, Bartók, and Shostakovich — With Yefim Bronfman

This exceptional concert with the Verbier Festival Orchestra celebrates the 90th birthday of composer Rodion Shchedrin. It marks an opportunity to pay tribute to the composer with the world premiere of his work “Dialogues with Shostakovich” for symphony orchestra, which opens the program. Pianist Yefim Bronfman then takes the stage for Bartók’s extraordinary Piano Concerto No. 2, a remarkably complex and innovative composition. The evening ends with Shostakovich’s spirited and progressive Symphony No. 1, written when he was just 19 years-old.
