Program notes
Escape to the pastoral landscapes and birdsong of an Arcadian world with an original program devised by Rodrigo Calveyra, recorder player of the ensemble Cappella Mediterranea. One of the world's leading Baroque ensembles, Cappella Mediterranea was founded by Leonardo García Alarcón and also features violinist Laura Corolla, viola de gamba player Ronald Martin Alonso, and harpsichordist Marie Van Rhijn. At the Festival Musical de Namur, capital of the Walloon region of Belgium, the musicians join forces with award-winning Belgian soprano Gwendoline Blondeel to take you to the timeless elegance of Charpentier’s chaconne Sans frayeur dans ce bois, the gentle lyricism of Lambert’s Ma bergère est tendre et fidèle... A picturesque journey through the wonders of instrumental and vocal French Baroque music awaits.
