Program notes
Renowned violinist Fumiaki Miura and celebrated violist David Aaron Carpenter join forces with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Marios Papadopoulos, in a dramatic orchestral program from the 2025 InClassica International Music Festival. First up is Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" from The Nutcracker, an elegant movement from the Russian master's legendary ballet. The string soloists take the spotlight in Alexey Shor’s Violin and Viola Concerto, a neoclassical composition with captivating melodies that showcases an exquisite, virtuosic dialogue between the instruments. Concluding the concert is Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major: a sunlit celebration of Bohemian folk music, composed on the occasion of his admission to the Prague Bohemian Academy of Science, Literature, and Arts.
