Jaeden Izik-Dzurko — Pianist

Program notes

Join virtuoso pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko at the Fondation Louis Vuitton for a recital blending Slavic Romanticism with the brilliant complexity of Rachmaninov's First Piano Sonata and Ravel’s Miroirs. Izik-Dzurko triumphed at the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition with his mesmerizing rendition of Brahms’s Concerto and won First Prize at the Concours musical international de Montréal, making him one of the most promising pianists of his generation. He begins the concert with Medtner’s brooding Sonata Minacciosa, which reflects “the threatening atmosphere of contemporary events”, according to the composer. Ravel’s stunning Miroirs follows suite, five pieces individually dedicated to members of the literary and artistic circle Les Apaches, before the young virtuoso concludes with Rachmaninov’s soaringly virtuosic and rarely performed Sonata in D Minor.
