Program notes

The Leeds International Piano Competition is one of the world’s premier piano competitions, having helped launched the careers of pianists like Radu Lupu, Murray Perahia, Mitsuko Uchida, Sir András Schiff, Lars Vogt, Sunwook Kim, and more recently Anna Tsybuleva, Eric Lu, and Alim Beisembayev. Every year since 1963, young pianists from all over the world have come to Leeds to prove their talents in front of an illustrious jury and compete for a selection of coveted prizes — including a recording contract, professional management, and concert debuts in prestigious venues. In this Final Concerto Round, the five final competitors will have the chance to perform a beloved piano concerto in a world-class setting: on the stage of St. George's Hall in Bradford, alongside maestro Domingo Hindoyan and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic! (Click here to catch up on the first Concerto Finals session before finding out which artist will take home the Fanny Waterman Gold Medal.)
