Program notes
From the world-famous Château de Chantilly comes another spectacular edition of Les Coups de Cœur à Chantilly, which allows world-class artists to design and perform a program near and dear to their hearts in a truly regal setting! In this installment, the renowned period-instrument ensemble Les Siècles treats us to a program blending Classical and contemporary repertoire, beginning with Schubert's beloved "Unfinished" Symphony No. 8, whose stately elegance and mystery are brought out with finesse by young conductor Jakob Lehmann. Next, the great Gábor Takács-Nagy leads Les Siècles in two delightful works performed by two piano virtuosos: Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 — perhaps the most instantly lovable of the 27, with two effervescent A-major movements around an exquisite F-minor Adagio — featuring the festival's multi-talented director Iddo Bar-Shai, and contemporary composer Toshio Hosokawa's Lotus Under the Moonlight, directly inspired by the preceding Mozart concerto and composed for the magnificent and meticulous Momo Kodama, who performs it to perfection here.
The Coups de Cœur à Chantilly (artistic director: Iddo Bar-Shai) take place under the patronage of Prince Amyn Aga Khan with the generous support of Aline Foriel-Destezet and encouragement of the Fondation AG2R la Mondiale. Organized by the Association MUSICA PNINA.
