The winds of change are blowing across the stage of Paris’s sublime Seine Musicale on this beautiful September night! Conductor Mathieu Herzog and mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet unveil a unique program of masterworks for voice and string orchestra by composers who helped usher in the 20th century, titled Métamorphoses Nocturnes (“Nocturnal Metamorphoses”), beginning with Richard Strauss’s wartime string masterpiece Metamorphosen. The evening continues with Ottorino Respighi’s Il Tramonto ("The Sunset"), a gorgeous setting of a poem by Shelley, followed by Schoenberg’s evocative Verklärte Nacht (“Night Transfigured”), a grandiose work composed during the composer’s tonal period...
