Program notes

Enjoy another glorious evening of chamber music at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art outside of Copenhagen, Denmark! The museum's concert hall has the perfect acoustic setup for a dynamic and soulful work like Fauré's Piano Quartet No. 2 in G Minor, full of sweeping melodic gestures and ravishingly beautiful motifs.

The French masterwork—described by Aaron Copland as "a long sigh of infinite tenderness, a long moment of quiet melancholy and nostalgic charm"—benefits from the careful reading and deeply felt interpretation of four internationally renowned artists with ample chamber experience: French pianist Eric Le Sage, violist Lise Berthaud, and cellist François Salque, plus Japanese violinist Daishin Kashimoto, chosen as concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker shortly after this concert was recorded.
