Program notes

The Munich Philharmonic's outdoor summer concert on the grand Odeonsplatz returns to medici.tv in 2024 with an unmissable lineup and the scintillating spark of the fantastic, starring violin virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter and maestro Lahav Shani! Experience the enchantment of Weber's fanciful Oberon Overture, Dukas's mischievous Sorcerer's Apprentice (famously used in Fantasia), and — with Mutter lending her magical violin skills — Saint-Saëns's diabolical Rondo capriccioso, plus a sampling of beloved movie scores by John Williams, including The Witches of Eastwick, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter. To cap off an electrifying evening, selections from Stravinsky's Firebird keep the summer heat blazing past sundown in an explosive grand finale.
