Program notes

Witness the opening concert of the inaugural "Contemporary Classics" Composers’ Festival, a one-of-a-kind event in the classical music world highlighting the incredible talents of legendary contemporary composers in Armenia's beautiful capital city of Yerevan!

The festivities get underway with this program devoted to celebrated Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian, featuring four of his compositions performed by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan. Joining them are internationally-acclaimed French-Armenian violinist Chouchane Siranossian, who takes on Mansurian’s First Violin Concerto, and Italian virtuoso cellist and Tchaikovsky Competition winner Mario Brunello, who brings his considerable talents to bear in the composer’s Cello Concerto, "Ubiest Abel frater tuus?"
