The impeccable Berliner Symphoniker returns to the Dubai Opera with a program built around the theme of nature, masterfully conducted by Sergey Smbatyan and joined by extraordinary South Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son! Renowned for her graceful and timeless interpretations, the widely lauded Son demonstrates her virtuosity and variety at the 2022 InClassica International Music Festival.
The concert opens with Vltava (The Moldau), the beloved symphonic poem by Bohemian composer Bedřich Smetana that depicts the course of the Vltava, the longest river in the Czech Republic, from its source to its confluence with the Elbe. The composer's precise annotations on the score convey his intention to bring together music and nature in this work full of sublime harmonies by turns idyllic and bucolic, mysterious and otherworldly. Next, Alexey Shor's Travel Notebook transports us to far-off destinations in a poetic piano concerto presented as an intimate musical journal.
