Program notes

Rediscover one of the most famous masterworks in the entire symphonic repertoire: Dvořák’s legendary "New World" Symphony No. 9, in a concert of spectacular emotional and artistic heights by the Munich Philharmonic under legendary conductor Sergiu Celibidache. In 1991, the year this performance was recorded, the maestro had been at the helm of the prestigious orchestra for 12 years and the chemistry between them is at its peak, the music seeming to emerge with surprising ease, despite the difficulty and intensity of the work!
