The Zaryadye International Festival highlights young talents discovered at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition! Violinist Ravil Islyamov and Tchaikovsky Competition second prize winner for piano Mao Fujita join forces with the Mariinsky Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev to perform Mozart’s celebrated Violin Concerto No. 5 and Piano Concerto No. 20. The concert closes with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, called the Schicksals-Sinfonie (“Fate Symphony”) and described by E.T.A. Hoffmann as “one of the most important works of the age”.
