Program notes

With the generous support of Madame Aline Foriel-Destezet

Virtuoso violinist and first prize winner of this year’s International Tchaikovsky Competition, the talented young Sergey Dogadin has already made his mark on the international classical music scene. As part of Moscow’s inaugural Zaryadye International Festival, Dogadin joins the legendary maestro Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra on the stage of the Zaryadye Concert Hall for Jean Sibelius’s lyrical and symphonic Violin Concerto in D Major. Framing his stellar performance are Ravel’s sweet and melancholic Pavane pour une infante défunte and the 1919 edition of Stravinsky’s unforgettable Firebird Suite.
