Revisit the very best of Russian maestro Valery Gergiev at the Verbier Festival in these instant classic archives from 2008 to 2019! All your favorite performers come together at Verbier under the baton of the festival’s music director.

Among the many highlights, find three of the preeminent Wagnerians of our day—Bryn Terfel, Eva Maria Westbroek, and Iréne Theorin—in a dynamite rendition of Die Walküre’s third act. Their tour de force is followed by another exceptional moment when Gergiev shows his mettle as a pianist, joining virtuosi Denis Matsuev and Daniil Trifonov in Mozart’s Concerto for Three Pianos in F Major. The maestro also conducts the first act of Otello, Verdi’s intense psychological drama adapted from Shakespeare, in a version featuring the great Anna Netrebko as Desdemona. The opening movements of Mahler’s Fifth and Shostakovich’s Fifth, plus a symphonic diptych by Shchedrin and Ravel’s perennially popular Boléro—in homage to ballerina Maya Plisetskaya—round out this selection of Gergiev’s greatest hits from Verbier over the last decade.
