When China meets Russia... Chinese maestro Zhang Guoyong and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China. Hornist Zeng Yun (first prizewinner of the 16th edition of the Tchaikovsky Competition) and guanzi player Han Lei join them for a program of works by Xilin, Glière, Jiping, and Wenjing that sits at the crossroads of Chinese and European classical music traditions.
