From his turn as a Hollywood soloist on the soundtrack of 1998 blockbuster The Red Violin to his starring role in the Pulitzer-winning Washington Post investigation that saw him perform incognito in a Washington, D.C. subway station in 2007, Joshua Bell has firmly established himself as one of the world's most famous violinists—an artist who's made a name for himself far beyond the typical borders of classical music.
Here, he invites the audience into his home to share his life story. Between endearing family scenes, little-known anecdotes about his years as a student, playing tennis, or intimate discussions of how the pandemic has impacted his career, this documentary presents the human side of one of America's most renowned performers. It also features a beautiful program with melodies by Beethoven, Puccini, Gershwin and Bernstein—for which he's joined by his wife, operatic soprano Larisa Martínez—that tells with music the life story of the so-called “Poet of the Violin.”
This is just one of over a thousand fascinating documentaries available on medici.tv, the web's leading classical music streaming platform!
