Rolando Villazón is a worldwidely famous tenor. But he is also a stage director. Follow Friedemann Hottenbacher in his documentary shot during the five-week rehearsal phase of Rolando Villazón's production of The Elixir of Love by Donizetti, against the backdrop of a western film set.
According to Villazón's idea, The Elixir of Love should not only play out within the framework of a western film set but at the same time in the plot itself. A piece within a piece, so to speak. For his daring venture, he has top-class allies, most of them singer colleagues from previous performances. But Villazón is not only a singer colleague now, he is also the director who must make his vision of The Elixir of Love convincing.
