Program notes

Relive the exceptional concert of Nigel Kennedy’s quintet at the New Morning for the release of his album Blue Note Sessions. A dive into the great classics of the American label and the compositions of Duke Pearson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Grant Green, and Kenny Burrell.

British violinist Nigel Kennedy has become a popular and remarkable icon in the world of classical music since the early 1990s. During this time, he also recorded Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling classical music recording of all time. Nigel Kennedy discovered jazz at the beginning of his career, notably through his encounter with Stephane Grappelli.
