Program notes

The Orchestre National de Jazz celebrates its 30th anniversary with an exceptional concert presented by journalist Arnaud Merlin, at the Cité de la Musique concert hall in Paris. A beautiful retrospective program led by young musicians including Alexandra Grimal, Fidel Fourneyron, Théo Ceccaldi, Hugues Mayot, and Jean Dousteyssier, at the cutting edge of today’s French jazz. Singers Élise Caron and Yael Naim are likewise guests at this exciting musical evening.

Created in 1986 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the ONJ has had ten artistic directors: François Jeanneau, Antoine Hervé, Claude Barthélémy, Denis Badault, Laurent Cugny, Didier Levallet, Paolo Damiani, Franck Tortiller, Daniel Yvinec, and Olivier Benoit. All of them will take the stage to conduct and/or perform a composition emblematic of their years of conducting the orchestra.
