For this concert at the Grande Halle in La Villette, Shai Maestro and his trio composed of world class musicians present a programme of new compositions inspired by jazz, classical music, and traditional melodies, forming a passionate lyricism and a euphoric energy on stage.
Israeli pianist and composer Shai Maestro made a name for himself very early in his career through his inclusion in the famous Avishai Cohen trio, notably on the albums Gently Disturbed and Seven Seas. Currently living in New York, he started his career in 2012 and shone alongside artists such as the saxophonists Chris Potter, Joshua Redman and Ben Wendel, and the drummer, Ari Hoenig. The year 2018 proved to be pivotal for the pianist as he signed his first record deal with the prestigious label, ECM.
