At this quintet concert, Steve Swallow—alongside organist Carla Bley and saxophonist Chris Cheek—demonstrate once again the distinctive power of jazz with subtle yet remarkably expressive swing music.
Steve Swallow is an American bassist and composer. From the beginning of the 60s, he has collaborated with Paul Bley, Jimmy Giuffre, George Russell, Stan Getz, and Gary Burton, while becoming a permanent member of Carla Bley’s bands in the late 70s. He is one of the few musicians who has invented a unique musical language for the electric bass in jazz.
