At the 2018 Salzburg Festival, Sonya Yoncheva brought Monteverdi's notorious antiheroine to life! Catch the acclaimed soprano in stage director Jan Lauwers's production of L'incoronazione di Poppea.
The early Baroque masterpiece captures a dramatic episode from the life of the infamous Roman emperor Nero: the moment when his mistress Poppea rises to power, fired by their passionate romance and her zealous thirst for power. Maestro William Christie leads Les Arts Florissants in Monteverdi's lavish score.
