Sobre el programa...

Discover John Neumeier’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a ballet created in 1977 and inspired by Shakespeare’s eponymous play, with the particularity of staging only one couple from the four protagonists, Hippolytus and Theseus, Titania and Oberon, who collectively share elements of the same amorous turmoil...

John Neumeier transports us to the heart of human emotion in this ballet: the couples twirl, bicker, lose and find each other again. The music of Mendelssohn and György Ligeti, as well as the splendid sets and costumes of Jürgen Rose, immerse us in the fairytale world of the choreography and demonstrate the narrative power of ballet. Among the lineup of the sensational Hamburg Ballet, the excellent Alexandr Trusch distinguishes himself with his impressive agility in the role of Philostratus, but the choreography spotlights each one of the dancers—from largest to smallest role—all of whom are essential to the development of the plot.
