Sobre el programa...

The extraordinary Czech Philharmonic welcomes conductor Alain Altinoglu and pianist Beatrice Rana to Dvořák Hall in Prague for a program of sumptuous Romanticism, including Rana's scintillating interpretation of the Mendelssohn G minor Piano Concerto, a feast of rapid-fire runs, cascading arpeggios, and the instantly moving melodies that are a hallmark of Mendelssohn's work. The Italian virtuoso, a mainstay on the world's biggest stages following her prizewinning run at the prestigious Cliburn Competition in 2013, always brings an ideal blend of "Horowitzian power" (The Guardian) and an "underlying calm command" with "perfect clarity" (New York Times). Altinoglu, renowned as the chief conductor at La Monnaie and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, also leads the Czech Phil in two marvelously evocative miniatures by Berlioz, the festive Roman Carnival Overture and the Royal Hunt and Storm from Les Troyens, as well as the sublime Suite No. 2 from Daphnis et Chloé, part of the celebrations for Ravel's 150th birthday in 2025.
