Gustavo Dudamel conducts the 2017 Nobel Prize Concert – With the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

Every year in Stockholm, the Nobel Prizes are celebrated with a gala concert attended by the Swedish Royal Family, the Nobel Laureates, international dignitaries and guests of the Nobel Foundation. In 2017 the concert is led by the brilliant Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, and an artist whose advocacy for music's power to unite, heal, and inspire closely reflects Alfred Nobel's humanistic ideals.

Led by Maestro Dudamel, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performs Mozart's last symphonic masterpiece, his Symphony No. 41, named the "Jupiter", and Strauss' mighty symphonic poem Also sprach Zarathustra, inspired by Nietzsche's philosophical text. As explained by Dudamel, "We have chosen a program honoring the Nobel Laureates and their accomplishments with music inspired by nature... a symbol of the harmony of art and science as expressions of the human imagination."
