Sobre el programa...
The musicians of the Zadig Trio join forces once again to perform a programme dedicated to one of the 20th century's greatest composers, Astor Piazzolla! With Miclen LaiPang on violin, Marc Girard Garcia on cello, and pianist Guillaume Vincent, the ensemble magnificently performs a new version of one of the Argentinian composer’s most loved works, The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, originally scored for violin, piano, electric guitar, double bass and bandoneon.
Mixing influences of traditional tango, jazz, and classical music (particularly inspired by Bach and Gerschwin), Piazzolla was largely criticized by ardent lovers of traditional tango due to his new, innovative style. However this unique musical language helped reshape the landscape of tango, and define the newly established genre of nuevo tango. Composed as four separate works between 1965 and 1970, the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires encapsulate the energy and the composer’s melancholy for the Argentine Capital. The captivating melody of the famous Oblivion (composed for the Italian film Enrico IV) is another highlight of this fabulous evening!
