Sobre el programa...
For the first time, medici.tv broadcasts the International Music Festival "Stars on the Baikal", directed artistically by Russian pianist virtuoso Denis Matsuev. Watch its opening concert live from southern Siberia in Russia on medici.tv.
The first concert of the series is opened by Denis Matsuev himself, performing one of the most technically challenging piano concertos of the classical repertoire: Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 (1909). A piece feared by most pianists. It is followed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade (1888), played by the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov. This symphonic suite was inspired by The Arabian Nights and evokes dazzlingly several episodes of the Persian tales—insuring its author's immortality.
International Music Festival "Stars on the Baikal":
Artistically directed by pianist virtuoso Denis Matsuev, the International Music Festival "Stars on the Baikal" takes place in the Irkutsk State Musical Theater, near one of the most astonishing natural wonders on earth: the lake Baikal, in southern Siberia at the Mongolian border in Russia.
Denis Matsuev, who was himself born in Irkutsk, returns to his Siberian roots, bringing with him international stars from different regions and continents across the world. The invited international stars join him, Yuri Temirkanov and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra for a series of three concerts hosted by Julian Makarov and Irina Tushinceva.
