Piazzolla received his first bandoneon from his father at the age of nine. In this documentary, his son Daniel draws on his father’s rich private collection to convey his musicality and talent. Directed by Daniel Rosenfeld, this documentary mixes numerous performances of the bandoneonist with archival footage that retraces his family life, marked in particular by a complicated relationship with his son. The most popular compositions of Piazzolla are spotlighted, including Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas and La Muerte del angel, while drawing on the most intimate aspects of this virtuoso’s life.
