Sobre el programa...
Jonathan Jurion is an artist that likes to walk the fine line between modern jazz and "gwo-ka", one of the island of Guadeloupe's traditional styles. During this concert held in the gardens of the Collectivité Territoriale de Martinique à Fort-de-France, the prominent pianist and his band honor the music of American saxophonist and ethnomusicologist Marion Brown, one of the greatest figures of free jazz. The other composer in the limelight is Gérard Lockel, renowned Guadeloupean musician and author of the Gwo-ka Modèn treatise. A warm and audacious brand of music that subtly mixes wonderful melodies with sophisticated and virtuosic music.
Pianist and composer Jonathan Jurion is a popular figure of Guadeloupean jazz whose reputation has grown to reach the forefront of the Caribbean jazz scene. An admirer of Michel Petrucciani, Alain Jean-Marie, and Mario Canonge, he has also been a member of such bands as Sonny Troupé and Ralph Lavital.
