Vijay Iyer presents The Ritual Ensemble in France

Pianist (and former physicist) Vijay Iyer has been developing his unique blend of classical music, Indian sonorities, and Afro-Cuban rhythms for decades, since he first cut his teeth on tour with Steve Coleman's The Mystic Rhythm and Society. His stylistically omnivorous philosphy is in full bloom here at the 2020 Sons d'Hiver festival, where he's joined by saxophonist/percussionist Yosvany Terry, vocalist Ganavya Doraiswamy and Rajna Swaminathan on the mridangam, a double-sided Indian drum.
