World-famous cellist and genre-crisscrossing cultural icon Yo-Yo Ma works with alumni cellists of the New World Symphony (NWS) in a series of five master classes. Michael Tilson Thomas, renowned orchestral conductor and co-founder of the NWS, contributes and facilitates the discussions.
NWS fellow Grace An presents a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme. Yo-Yo Ma encourages her to think about character, theme and relationship to the orchestra when playing a whole piece.
