With the crew of the Live from Abbey Road Sessions, the Jazz@ series creates a space where musicians can really shine. The room is simple, the audience is small, the sound is great and the camera is 4K. Here, international artists from a mix of genres and cultures are able to get away from the noise and let their art breathe.
Episode 2 features Kris Bowers. An Emmy-winning composer, winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition and highly sought-after pianist, Bowers has worked with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Marcus Miller and many more. For his opening track, he places his keys and New York metro card on the piano chords to create a drum kit sound that he can use to interpret Kendrick Lamar.
He shares the bill with Laura Mvula, one of the most distinctive singers of her generation. Mvula is a British singer who transcends genre and has released acclaimed records touching on jazz, classical, R&B, gospel and neo-soul. Together, they paint soundscapes that are vibrant, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary.
