Join Czech Maestro Jakub Hrůša and the Bamberg Symphony for a stormy and impassioned evening of Romantic masterworks by two of the 19th century’s greatest composers: Beethoven and Dvořák!
It was the tragic tale of a hero banished from his homeland that inspired Shakespeare’s Coriolanus and in turn Beethoven’s 1807 Overture, fittingly described by E.T.A. Hoffmann as “reflective poetry”. A musical creation by yet another master of melody brings the evening to its close: Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony. The stormy work is marked by a tragic pathos that at the time of its premiere in 1885 was relatively unknown in the composer’s oeuvre: passion and romanticism stream through the four movements of what many consider to be Dvořák’s greatest symphony.
