О программе
Located in the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts, Tanglewood is one of the world's most beloved music festivals and serves as the summer home for the famed Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO). In 2012, the festival celebrated its 75th anniversary with a jaw-dropping cast of superstars, who also discuss their love for this one-of-a-kind festival.
The gala begins with American flair as Keith Lockhart conducts Aaron Copland’s stirring Fanfare for the Common Man and Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On The Town, and James Taylor sings three standards from the Great American Songbook with the great John Williams and the Boston Pops. Next, Emanuel Ax dazzles in Haydn, Yo-Yo Ma leads young talents in a Tchaikovsky masterwork, and Anne-Sophie Mutter is as extraordinary as ever in Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy! To close out the festivities, Andris Nelsons heads the BSO in Ravel’s perennially delightful La Valse, and Peter Serkin ably takes up the piano role in Beethoven’s soul-stirring Choral Fantasy—with shades of the Ninth Symphony—alongside the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and the BSO under David Zinman!
